Required Workplace Posters
Federal law requires most employers to display specific notices in a location where all employees can see them. Failure to post required notices can result in fines even if your business is otherwise compliant — and many business owners don’t discover the requirement until an audit or complaint brings it to their attention. This page covers all federally required workplace posters, all of which are free to download and print directly from official government sources. State requirements vary and are addressed in the state resources section below. Use the DOL Poster Advisor linked at the top of that section to get a customized list of exactly which posters apply to your specific business.
Note: Posting requirements depend on your number of employees, industry, and whether you hold federal contracts. Use the DOL Poster Advisor to determine exactly which posters apply to your business.

State Poster Requirements
Most states have their own required workplace posters in addition to federal requirements. State posters typically cover topics like state minimum wage, workers’ compensation, unemployment insurance, and state-specific anti-discrimination laws.

Important Notes
Telehealth and Remote Businesses If your business operates entirely remotely with no physical location where employees report to work, poster requirements are different. The DOL has issued guidance that remote employers may satisfy posting requirements by providing electronic notice. Consult the DOL or a labor attorney for guidance specific to your situation.
Updating Posters Posting requirements change when laws are updated. Check annually that you have the current version of each poster — outdated posters can result in fines even if you were previously compliant.
Ordering Printed Posters All federal posters can be downloaded and printed for free. Pre-printed laminated posters combining all federal requirements are available from various vendors if preferred. The DOL does not sell posters — any vendor charging for DOL posters is reselling something available for free.
This page covers federal poster requirements only and is provided for general reference. Requirements vary by employer size, industry, and state. Always verify current requirements with the DOL or a qualified HR professional.
