permits, and inspections that would be needed for various types of
hospitality services. Finally, we discussed what is involved in setting up
a food based service, a hospitality service, human services, and animal

POS: Point of Sale
a term used to describe the transaction between
the retailer and the consumer. When the transaction is made through a third party merchant, such as a debit or credit card, a Point of Sale device is used to complete and record the transaction. It is the moment of transaction between a business and a consumer for goods or services

Certificate of Occupancy
a certificate usually issued by the municipality fire department to designate the number of people that can occupy your retail space at any one time. It is normally based on the size of your retail space as well as the zone in which you are located.
Resale Permit
permit allows your food or retail establishment to make certain nontaxable purchases, such as wholesale food inventory.
Sales & Use Permit
A seller’s permit that allows a state to identify a business as a collector of sales tax. Most businesses, especially in the food and beverage industry, need to obtain a seller’s permit as well as the resale certificate.

Retail based services are among the easiest to set up and the least complex to obtain permits.
In the simplest case, you can have a display and catalog from which customers can order items.
Human based services carry a higher level of liability since human contact is the core of the service.
Human based services require training, certifications, and professional licensing for staff who perform certain services.
Animal services are not as extensively regulated, but focus on human safety and animal welfare.
