I tried repeatedly for decades to make a better life for myself while trying to do something good for the world. I lastly tried to start my own medical practice after seeing such poor care provided to patients in the state where I was living. Call it naivety, call it “being green”, but I really thought people wanted to help those who wanted to help others. After being taken advantage of multiple times and finally being discriminated against for being a Nurse Practitioner and not a physician, I was unable to keep the practice open and had to declare bankruptcy.
What I learned is it is only about money. Nothing more. Not even to a degree. It is only, solely, and purely about money. No one will help you. And on the off chance you are successful, everyone will want a piece of your success.
Why is this so? Why is this the way the business world is? Are there not enough consumers for everyone? How much money is enough? The world has become a self-serving and entitled place. Being a kind decent human being has become an anomaly.
For reasons I can explain, I could not live as a corrupted greedy selfish person. I’m just not built that way. So I channeled my frustration into writing a course that detailed everything I learned from these experiences. All the things that no one had told me. All those things that you don’t know you don’t know until you make a mistake. From that course, CBR evolved. One place where someone can find the information they need to start their business and then have the resources they need to keep that business going.
I wanted a place that could be a light in the darkness of greed, deceit, and immorality in the name of profit. I believe it is time for a change in the way people treat each other, and in the intention for which someone has a business. It can’t only be about the money. That’s what CBR is meant to be, a light to guide others toward a way to make the business industry kinder, more honorable, and about service. Our philosophy is to do the right thing, the money will come.
